Somatic/body based interventions
Somatic techniques are practices that focus on the connection between the mind and body, emphasizing awareness of bodily sensations. They often involve movement, breath, and mindfulness to help individuals release tension and holding patterns which may have been created during difficult periods in our lives, as well as pendulation, titation, and focussing. By fostering a deeper understanding of physical experiences, somatic techniques can promote healing, relaxation, and emotional well-being. Also many people experience emotions very somatically, so building the link between emotion and sensation can really help provide a language for what can feel vague at times, as well as promoting emotional regulation if we're more aware of what the feelings mean. These methods can be beneficial for stress management, enhancing self-awareness, and improving overall mental health and can be used in conjunction with any other therapy offer, in particular, CBT and EMDR.
