CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help individuals explore how our thoughts, actions, felt sensations and emotions all interact, influence what we do (and what we avoid doing) and can keep us stuck at times, with the premise that if we can change one, the others can change too. Because of this, CBT is an experiential and collaborative approach with lots of opportunities to test out ideas inbetween sessions. Through collaborative therapy sessions, clients can develop coping strategies for managing challenges. CBT is an evidence based treatment which can be effectively used to treat symptoms of a variety of different presentations such as depression, social anxiety, OCD, body dysmorphia, panic disorder, phobias, health anxiety and PTSD. In a typical session we will talk about situations you are finding difficult and explore how they make you think, feel and act. We will work together to use what we have discovered to develop different ways to cope and regain a sense of control over symptoms and an enhanced quality of life. Further information regarding CBT can be found on the BABCP website.
